Midlands Mechanical is a long-standing mechanical contractor at the BD East facility in Columbus, Nebraska. BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) is one of the largest medical technology manufacturers in the world, and the Columbus East site plays a critical role in producing high-precision medical devices for global distribution.
This is a high-stakes environment, with active cleanrooms, specialized production processes, and tight tolerances. Our work at BD East demands extreme attention to detail, cleanliness, and coordination. From new installations to shutdown tie-ins, we've worked side-by-side with BD’s internal teams on a wide range of complex mechanical systems throughout the facility.
Scope of Work & Responsibilities:
Our work at BD East includes:
- Installation and modification of process piping in controlled manufacturing environments
- Piping systems for hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and other medical and specialty gases
- Domestic water and sanitary sewer systems across clean and non-clean zones
- Mechanical work in ISO-rated cleanrooms with strict contamination controls
- Equipment setting and utility connections during production line installations or moves
- Mechanical infrastructure rerouting for facility upgrades and process changes
- Shutdown tie-ins and live cutovers executed under strict time and safety windows
- Ongoing service support, system maintenance, and emergency repair response
