Project Description:
Midlands Mechanical serves as a long-time mechanical contractor at the BD West facility in Columbus, Nebraska- part of BD’s large-scale medical manufacturing campus. This facility supports high-volume medical technology production and complex systems that demand tight coordination, safety, and a clean working environment.
The BD West site includes a range of manufacturing spaces, each with their own mechanical needs — from clean utility installs to system upgrades and production-line expansions. Our crews work directly with BD engineering and plant teams to complete precise mechanical work without disrupting ongoing operations.
Scope of Work & Responsibilities:
Our work at BD West includes:
- Installation and rework of process piping tied to production equipment and facility systems
- Piping systems for hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, vacuum, and other medical and specialty gases
- Domestic water, sanitary sewer, and drainage systems across clean and utility zones
- Mechanical support in controlled environments with tight contamination protocols
- Equipment setting, relocation, and utility hook-ups during line changes and rebuilds
- Mechanical upgrades during facility expansions and process improvements
- Live tie-ins, shutdown coordination, and system switchover work
- Long-term maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency mechanical response
We’re involved in nearly every mechanical change on site — whether it’s a tight deadline shutdown or a months-long expansion project, BD West continues to rely on us to get the work done safely and correctly.
Client Note:
The BD West facility runs at scale, with constant movement across systems, lines, and layouts. Our role is to stay one step ahead — solving problems, coordinating installs, and keeping mechanical systems aligned with all of their medical technology production demands.
